🪖 What Is Short Service Commission (SSC)?

Short Service Commission allows you to serve as a commissioned officer in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force for a limited period — typically 10 years, extendable by 4 more years. After this, you can either:

  • Opt for Permanent Commission (subject to selection)
  • Or exit and pursue a civilian career

📚 Eligibility & Qualifications

Branch Age Limit Educational Qualification
Army (Tech) 20–27 years B.E./B.Tech in relevant discipline
Army (Non-Tech) 19–25 years Graduate in any discipline
JAG (Legal) 21–27 years LLB degree with registration in Bar Council
NCC Entry 19–25 years Graduate + NCC ‘C’ Certificate (min ‘B’ grade)
Navy 19–24 years B.E./B.Tech or relevant degree
Air Force 20–26 years Graduate or B.E./B.Tech (depending on branch)

All candidates must be Indian citizens, medically fit, and meet physical standards set by the respective forces.

  1. Written Exam (CDS, AFCAT, or direct entry depending on branch)
  2. SSB Interview (Services Selection Board)
  3. Medical Examination
  4. Training at:
    • OTA Chennai (Army)
    • INA Ezhimala (Navy)
    • AFA Dundigal (Air Force)

👩‍✈️ Women in SSC

Women can apply for SSC in all three services. They undergo the same selection process and training, and are eligible for permanent commission in select branches.
